My chronic migraines ~ I’m cranky

I’ll admit I’ve been cranky with an awfully short fuse lately, however, I’ve also been bedridden with ice-packs stuck to my head, isolated, and living in dark spaces for months. Winters in Canada aren’t kind to me, the barometer changing from day to day and week to week promotes wicked chronic migraines. Weather changes are my triggers.

I’ve posted previously about my 40+ year struggle with these crappy recurring headaches doing anything to prevent a trip to the hospital emergency for an IV drip to end the agony. The waits are lengthy (8-12 hours), torturous and almost always have some nitwit beside me who wants to chit chat.  Leave me be, please!

Currently, in my city, though, migraine sufferers cannot be treated with narcotics relief at any hospitals only providing Toradol which is comparable to placing a band-aid on my forehead.  Best to remain at home and suffer in peace.

I have been on numerous prescribed meds to ‘prevent‘ migraines, also currently on (Relpax-prescription-expensive) if I feel one beginning, hopefully catching it in time. Botox isn’t an option due to other health reasons.  I’ve just ventured into float therapy, years of massage therapy, essential oils, homeopathy this and that and my next step may possibly be acupuncture.

It’s not just a headache for anyone out there who has never experienced a migraine!

I used to have horrible migraines when I was younger, so I absolutely understand what you are going through. I hope it quickly passes!

Ugh, I feel your pain! Especially right now in Canada, all these weather changes have really triggered my migraines as well. I haven’t found anything that’s helped unless I take some medication as soon as I feel the slightest bit of pain… even then…. Hang in there!

Me neither. I’m trying everything also, aiming to avoid medications. Last weekend I attempted Float Therapy (new to me), however, it really wasn’t a success. It was only one session, though, perhaps you have to two or three per week. Felt nice, though. Essential oils in my diffuser have been a bit helpful, but nothing has removed the pain from these horrendous migraines. Hope spring is better. Hang in there too. 🙂

I so understand this. I was struck with a 3 day migraine last week, and NOTHING stopped it, or even eased it. I’ve also had botox which I think I told you, so this shouldn’t have happened, but I think until they discover just what causes migraines, we’re roaming around in the dark. I feel so sore for you. I can only imagine living in sheer agony all the time. It’s gotta wear you down and make life suck! I know that I wouldn’t be able to deal with it, so you are very strong.

I cannot imagine these. Now I have had a few wicked hangovers in my day, and those are pretty darn debilitating! Self inflicted though…and a fair punishment. Migraines seem so unfair.
